What Does Non Comedogenic Mean?

DEFINING NON-COMEDOGENIC

Simply put, non-comedogenic means that a product contains ingredients that won’t clog or block the pores on your skin. Which is great, especially if you have acne prone, impure or combination skin.

Products that do not clog your pores will help reduce the chances of acne and pimples developing.

WHERE DOES THE WORD NON-COMEDOGENIC COME FROM?

A comedo is the technical name for a type of pimple that is the result of a clogged pore and appears on the surface of your skin (typically around your face). So, products that are considered non-comedogenic will not clog pores, which could form pimples.

WHY USE NON-COMEDOGENIC PRODUCTS?

While non-comedogenic products may not completely prevent acne, they can help to reduce the effects and causes of acne by cleaning out the excess sebum and bacteria that blocks your pores. The ingredients in non-comedogenic products also help to dissolve excess oil in the hair follicle and remove any dead skin cells from the surface that could clog your pores.

If you suffer from pimples or acne, it’s important to know that blocked pores might not be the only cause of breakouts. Other causes of acne include hormonal changes, excess dead skin cells, bacteria contamination and your skin type.

WHY USE NON-COMEDOGENIC PRODUCTS?

Always read the label. Follow the directions for use.
